QUANTUM QUESTIONS: The Art of Pandiculation by JSM

"Could it be that questions tell us more than answers ever do?" - Michael Card

Somewhere around the 12th and 13th century the development of an idea was proceeded by what Great Teachers called the questio (Latin: "to seek") from which we derive our modern word "quest" and by extension the word "quest-ion".

"The systematic asking of questions opened up wonder and encouraged spiritual curiosity by drawing out the pros and cons for answers to each question, thus refining the question itself instead of just looking for the perfect answer." - Richard Rohr

While most religions begin in this "seeking" stage of development, history has demonstrated that eventually they become dogmatic, unyielding and more concerned with preserving and defending a favored stance of being right (orthodox - "right opinion") instead of exemplifying the core precepts of the belief system they purport to uphold. (i.e. "Love your neighbor AS yourself").

This has become the earmark of all fundamentalist religion; It inherently grows stagnant through a failure to continue asking the (hard) questions. Questions which would allow it to evolve, expand and grow beyond its current state by exposing many of the archaic, magic and mythic beliefs it still clings to. Teachings, ideas and concepts which have been handed down through traditions (many that may have served it at one time) but which have ultimately made the "word of God of NO effect."  The truths underlying these traditions are Timeless, but the doctrines themselves have become static in both their  understanding of and application to present realities.

Why? .....Because, just like Hebrews trying to stockpile "manna in the wilderness," it is no longer fresh but has begun to breed worms.  This happens whenever what is "known" it is no longer an "ever-proceeding word from the mouth of God." The "Present Truth" is subsequently substituted for a "belief system" when the "rivers of living water" cease to flow from your Innermost Being. Truth cannot be defined by some rigid doctrine or teaching, just as an Infinite God can never be reduced to a mere formula.

"Fundamentalism suffers from the same false seeing. It is basically a love affair with words and ideas about God instead of God himself or herself. But you cannot really love words; you can only think them. You cannot really love reality with the judgmental mind, because you’ll always try to control it, fix it, or understand it before you give yourself to it......The fact that some form of loving must precede true knowing helps us appreciate why the prophets used the intimate word for carnal knowledge or sexual intimacy when they spoke of “knowing” God.......So many of the Mystics had to make use of sexual images to describe the relationship of the soul with God. From inside experience, you know God’s Love is a tender dance of give-and-take, rescue and holding. We see what we are ready to see, expect to see , and even desire to see. There is some kind of mutual influence between subject and object, says the Heisenberg Principle...." - Richard Rohr from The Naked Now: Learning to See As the Mystics See

In quantum mechanics, Heisenberg's uncertainty principle asserts that there is a limit to the exactness or precision with which anyone can know the complementary variables (i.e. position, momentum) of the physical properties related to atomic particles simultaneously. Heisenberg later proposed that the "observer effect" at the quantum level could explain the uncertainty related to those variables.
When we apply the "uncertainty principle" to our subjective experience of God, it becomes apparent that no matter how precise our definition of the Divine, we can never simultaneously explain it while also maintaining a complete Awareness of Its Reality. Hence the profound revelation of Lao Tzu in the Tao, "He that says does not Know, and he that Knows does not say."

We must realize that what is REAL in our Experience can never be threatened by the beliefs of another. We must become Masters of Pandiculation ("the art of stretching oneself"). It is time that we learn from the past mistakes of religion and truly begin to practice the non-judgment of the Mystics who in essence taught us that it is better to be kind and loving than it is to be right. For the only way we can truly and honestly ask the questions that challenge our beliefs (and allow us to grow) is if we are willing to let go of our preconceived ideas and judgments in order to acknowledge that, no matter how refined our mental understanding of Truth may be, it will never be The Truth; Just as the highest ideas, thoughts and notions we have ABOUT God are NOT God.

Those who truly "Know" have learned to be comfortable living with the Paradox of "not knowing," in the sense that, they recognize that the Mystery of Divinity is not something "to be grasped" (i.e. apprehended by a mental understanding), BUT that Truth IS a Living Reality which is fresh, flowing and perpetually new in each Present Moment of Awareness.

May Love Be Our Journey, May Truth Be Our Quest!

The Sublimation of Desire by JSM

Jesus said that "No One IS Good except God." It should be apparent from that statement alone that he wasn't referring  to a "good" which is simply the opposite of "bad." He was referencing an Absolute Good which transcends our relative perceptions of good or bad.

You have probably heard the expression that "good is often the enemy of that which is best."  In a relative sense, whether we intend to or not, we make arbitrary judgments all the time about our experiences (sometimes subconsciously). Some things we consider good, and others bad. Usually it is because we feel those things which we classify as "bad" are infringing upon our egoic sense of self or making things uncomfortable for the "self" that we believe ourselves to be. In large part this is due to the preferences we have adopted over time and/or the way we would prefer things to be.

That being said, because of the subjective nature of our experience, it is almost impossible to distinguish, from a perspective of duality (separation), which experiences are truly "bad" from those that are ultimately working toward our Highest Good. Therefore if we resist the "bad", we may miss an opportunity to derive benefit from the experience.

If we are honest with ourselves, we are able to see that there is a natural tendency to gravitate toward those experiences which we consider "good" for our physical and material well-being (i.e. more money, better job, new car etc..). What is often overlooked, however, is that by placing the emphasis upon some external "good" we may inadvertently be settling for that which is less than the best because we are only evaluating the impact of those things upon the physical circumstances of our lives.

When it comes right down to it, ALL of our judgments stem from an established sense of Identity. The perplexing contradiction in the nature of our experience, however, lies in the fact that there is frequently a difference between who we think we are, who we want others to think we are, and who we really Are. The more we are able to bring those various facets of our Identity into alignment, the less confusion we will perpetually create in our experience.

Everyone has a predominant sense of identity which governs their thoughts about themselves (material, intellectual, emotional, spiritual etc..). Usually when anything challenges that identity,  it is deemed as bad. By the same token, if it supports our sense of identity, it is considered good. As an example, if we have built our identity upon the things we own, what we do for a living or what others think of us, then when those things are threatened,  so is our identity. The natural tendency then is fear and self-preservation. (i.e. preserving the sense of self with which we most closely identify). Often this results in defense, control, denial, blame, guilt, shame, depression etc...

The Sublimation of Desire occurs when instead of reacting to external stimuli, being driven by circumstances or ruled by habitual mental patterns and emotions which are tied to past pain, through Awareness  we raise our experience to a higher dimensional perspective by recontextualization. That is, we allow what IS in the full realization and acknowledgement of One Presence and One Power  which underlies all form and appearance. We recognize that instead of being merely humans that occasionally have spiritual experiences, we are One Spirit experiencing itself in multiple dimensions of form. Therefore, we implicitly trust in the Infinite Goodness which lies at the Heart of All That Is. The Spirit and Essence which IS the Ground of All Being.

From this perspective we are not talking about totally eradicating the desire for good or a displeasure for the bad on the human plane, which some religions teach, because that would ultimately eliminate our ability to create altogether. We are talking about an ascension of consciousness into a full realization of the Sublime Desire which is inherent in the Creative Will of Divinity, which is evidenced in the perpetual evolution of the cosmos. For ALL Creation stems from the DESIRE to produce or reproduce something of value on one level of existence or another. When we are caught in a cycle of resisting our circumstances, however, it inhibits us from a proactive participation in the creation of a new reality.

The Paradox of Desire is that contained within it are the Seeds of Creation for both greatness and weakness. For whatever we give place to in Consciousness (consciously, subconsciously or unconsciously)  we create in our experience through the Law of Intention and Attraction.  Just  as the functioning of natural laws can be used to bring help or harm, so the inherently Divine Power of DE-SIRE (Latin="Of the Father") within us can be used to create our own heaven or fashion our own hell.

The ultimate key to transcending all struggle lies in a balanced understanding rooted in Divine Identity which possesses an underlying intention to create in alignment with Perfect Love. Within that Divine Awareness of Self is an Unconditional Love and Harmony which embraces the Totality and not just the selfish needs of the individual.  There is a PRISTINE DESIRE which is not solely based on the relative polarities of our divided experience but flows pure and unrestricted from the Law of the Spirit of Life in which we live and move and have Our Being. There must be an implicit trust in the Infinite Potential of Our Being balanced by an Awareness of Purpose which exists for the GOOD of the Whole.

ATOMIC INTELLIGENCE by JSM

"The Science of Spirit and the Science of Matter are not opposed. They are complementaries, and neither is fully comprehensible without some knowledge of the other." -Thomas Troward

There is a Creative Will, a Divine Design, an Energizing Intelligence evidenced by the Collective Consciousness of the Cosmos. There is also a Scientific Spirituality which is not troubled by any of the Quantum Questions that are being raised by empirical science. There is an Intuitive Logic which is able  to validate the discoveries of objective science because it recognizes an organizational Chaos inherent within the Infinite Ideation of the Universe.

Every scientific advance has been precipitated by the observation and recognition of some Universal Law or Principle. Some pre-existent Cause underlying the realm of superficial appearance. In the same way, every step in the Evolution of Consciousness is preceded by the experiential realization of some aspect of the Divine Intelligence. There is always an essential shift in Humanity's Awareness, both individually and corporately, which potentiates the evolution of possibility into actuality. This may more aptly be referred to AS the entelechy OF Omnipresent Spirit which IS the Primordial Substance of the Universe.

THIS IS the Atomic Intelligence or Creative Consciousness from which Everything arose out of NO-thing which religion refers to AS God:

"For FROM Him and THROUGH Him and TO Him are ALL THINGS." ("For everything proceeds forth FROM Spirit, everything exists and is held together with/BY Spirit and ultimately everything tends toward and consummates IN SPIRIT" -Rom. 11:36, JSM Amp Ver).

Whether visible or invisible, from the atomic structure of our DNA to the gravitational pull which holds planets in their orbit; whether we recognize That Spirit operating by what science refers to as the Law of the Conservation of Energy, or as being consistent with the approximately 85% of dark matter (mystery substance) intertwining the Universe, there is a  concurrent realization that Everything IS CONNECTED! Much like the synapses of our brain, the Universe IS ONE Macrocosmic Organism. THAT alone should be an EYE opener for us all.

We are assured in the sacred text of the epistle to the Ephesians that,
"In the dispensation of the FULNESS of times, HE (Omnipresent Spirit) will gather together IN ONE ALL things IN Christ (spirit-consciousness), both which are IN HEAVEN and which are IN EARTH...."
In this very hour many of us are EYE-Witnesses to this Unification IN Consciousness; A Consciousness which IS beholding Itself AS ONE SPIRIT.

It was the Greek philosopher Plotinus who said, "Beauty is the translucence through the material phenomenon of the Eternal Splendor of the ONE."
Even Now, like no other time in history, WE ARE SEEING a progressive manifestation through the material creation of the Beauty which is inherent in that Indivisible Whole perpetually being revealed by the Oneness of ALL THAT IS.

On the relative plain of expression, everyone's individual consciousness IS gradually coming into alignment with this INFINITE and INDIVISIBLE CONSCIOUSNESS (God).  Furthermore, it is through the cessation of humanity's ocular oscillation in duality that "we shall ALL be changed (metamorphosized) in a moment (Gr. = ATOMOS = indivisible), in the twinkling (shifting) of an EYE...." For it is by the focusing of our Spiritual Vision, this "SINGLENESS OF EYE," in the realization of ONENESS (No Division) that we are (being) changed in Our Atoms and/or "transformed by the renewing of Our Mind."

When mankind broke the sound barrier in the natural realm, even on a subliminal level, everyone began hearing the Sound of One Voice echoing and resonating throughout the cosmos. Some have simply resisted it more than others. In like manner, scientific studies in Quantum Entanglement are enabling us to see things at an even deeper subatomic level to the point that we are truly "approaching the speed of Light". In parallel, this Reality is being revealed even moreso within the Collective Consciousness, for "When the EYE IS SINGLE, the Whole Body will be FULL OF LIGHT."

The Song of Creation

Can you Hear the Sound
That holds All things together?
The Source of Light within the Word
The Cosmos cannot measure

Pure Energy
The Breath of Life
With Love the catalyst

Ignited Flame
Eternal Fire
By which All things Exist

Listen closely,
Hear the Song of Creation
The Kingdom comes without Observation
Bringing an End to Limitation

Dominion over Death & Disease
Freedom from Corruption
The Veil removed,
The Garden Restored
From Origin’s Disruption

Be Fruitful,
Multiply,
Replenish the Whole Earth
The Mind Renewed,
Desires Subdued,
Loins Girded to bring forth Birth

Life & Death: The Word we Speak
The Power to Create
Creators in His Image
No longer Desolate

Writing Words of Spirit
On the Heart of Every Brother
For as truly as We Are One with Him,
We Create Each Other
